Re saleable items at council tips. I have never been in need of buying good salvaged items at the tip, but have always thought what a good idea such sales were. They benefit someone who needs them, they save the cost of transport to landfill and they save scarce space at landfill sites. All that is needed is the issue of a receipt in duplicate incorporating a disclaimer as to quality. One copy to the customer and one on file at the tip. The cost of printing the receipt to be covered by a 50 per cent split of the sales income between tip staff and council coffers.Such a debacle does nothing of credit to the common sense of the whole local government set up, either officers or councillors.I was taught in my school days, waste not, want not.B Veysey - Ham Green, Pill
