I NOTED with disgust the grudging publicity given by the Mercury (July 7) to Lord Cotter's maiden speech in the House of Lords as compared with Miss Widdecombe's one-day visit to the town. Brian Cotter served Weston as MP for eight years and deserved better.Weston & Worle News gave him a half page. Mind you, I am not surprised, as in my long-term knowledge of the Mercury it has always shown a bias politically.MARION GREEN - Elmsleigh Road, WestonEDITOR'S NOTE: Over the years the Weston & Somerset Mercury has been accused of being politically biased by the Labour, Conservative and Liberal Democratic parties.
