AS another successful year comes to a close at Wavering Down House, Dennis and I would like to thank everyone who came to view the house and gardens, and the charity workers who gave of their time to raise money for their group.Likewise, a sincere thank you to all the performers and helpers and to all those who came to our concerts: it was so wonderful to see so many happy adults and children, of all ages and walks of life, having fun. I would finally like to mention two important letters I received recently, one from Prince Charles and the other from Camilla. Both commended my work in the gardens. I say this not as a boast but as a realisation of the importance of having a hobby, an interest or an activity if one is trying to overcome sadness or loss, failure or despair. In my case, it has been overcoming years of alcoholism and I am filled with pride. So let's celebrate the end of the season with our open days on September 22 and 23 from 10.30am-4.30pm. Children's Hospice South West will be present on these days with donations going to this most worthy cause. Entrance fees are £5 for adults, and £2.50 for children which will give you the chance to view inside Frankie's house, enjoy all the items on display and visit our gardens. We look forward to seeing you then.CHRIS BYRNE - Wavering Down House, Cross
