REGARDING the pool, as I like to call it, it didn't work as the Tropicana. All we want is a good pool - we don't want hotels, car parks and such, just somewhere our children can go and not cost the earth. Then there are the Italian Gardens, once again it just wants someone to be paid to take care of these spots but it seems that if they are left to be abused it's time to pull it down for more shops that are not needed. These people (councillors) haven't the right to pull them down as the letter in last week's Mercury said. It was left by Henry Butt who said it was not be be built on. Then there was the post office - I am sure there was an order on that. When I was growing up we used to go across on the steamers to Cardiff from the old pier. The Big Lamp area has just gone mad. It is dirty, the pavements are filthy with food and drinks - it wants a good scrub. St James Street is another eyesore. I don't think these people we pay to look after our town ever walk around and see what's going on.V WOOLLEY - Tamar Road, Worle
