THANK you for printing the interview with Elfan Ap Rees, it was a chance to find out about the aspirations of the council concerning Weston. However I think the council has shown a lack of foresight in its dealings with Henry Boot.Henry Boot is a highly respected, innovative and dynamic company and we need its investment in Weston. Unfortunately I believe the council should have negotiated an agreement allowing Henry Boot to build the hotel and leisure complex on a prime site (perhaps Dolphin Square?) in Weston and the pool on the Tropicana site. I believe that objections by many Westonians and conservation and heritage groups to building the whole development on the beach will ensure there is likely to be an inquiry lasting many months, leaving us still without a pool, and Henry Boot in limbo.I think the council should have foreseen this happening and encouraged other sites to appear attractive to Henry Boot. I hope its 'lack of nous' does not mean that Boot drops out of Weston, especially as there is now a groundswell of opinion wanting the leisure development on Dolphin Square. I would ask the council to renegotiate the contract to ensure a win-win situation for both Weston and Henry Boot.PAULINE PLATTEN - St Davids Close, Weston
