IN YOUR paper of March 9, Tom Baker, the recently retired fund-raising manager for the Weston Super Kids Appeal, quite properly thanked the many organisations and individuals who had so generously contributed to the appeal. It was rather unfortunate, though, that he omitted to mention the contribution of £800,000 made to the appeal by the League of Friends of the Weston Hospitals without which it would have fallen well short of its target.Readers might also be interested to know that the League of Friends has subsequently agreed to provide further donations of £250,000 to extend the endoscopy facilities, £30,000 for a replacement ophthalmic laser and £6,000 for a bladder scanner for the orthopaedic surgical unit. We also continue to fund numerous smaller items of medical equipment on a regular basis.PETER W BARRETT - League of Friends of Weston-super-Mare Hospital
