COUNCILLOR Elfan Ap Rees needs to remember there is traffic hotspot life outside of Weston. The inside of the coastal strip of North Somerset is called the rural area, which represents 70 per cent of North Somerset with some 53,000 people. Rural house owners pay council tax and expect the same consideration as the urban dwellers. Banwell is a well known hotspot and various councils have only been talking, investigating and tinkering with this problem for 50 years? But however long it has been, they have not solved it. Consider the pollution and the effect that has on local residents. Three pedestrian crossings have not solved the problem, the adjustment to the bottom of Banwell Hill has not solved the problem. I understand that there is a higher level of respiratory problems in Banwell for those living in that area of the A371. If true, that alone should encourage our councillor to have the problem dealt with. How about controlling the traffic with three sets of traffic sensitive lights, one at the junction of West Street and Banwell Hill, one at the top of Banwell Hill and one at the junction of the A371 and the A368? Best of all of course, let's have a bypass!JOHN ELLIS - The Lynch, Winscombe
