I ALMOST choked on my cornflakes. Imagine my surprise when I read Tory Councillor Bob Cook's letter in last week's Mercury. It turns out that conservatives in Long Ashton are very worried about the title I use in my campaigning as Weston's Lib Dem Prospective MP. I have visions now of Conservative branch meetings in villages across North Somerset debating vital matters such as appropriate uses of 'chairman' or 'chair', how to correctly pronounce Bath and the etymology of 'flower' as a term of affection. I have to say I couldn't care less what people call me. What I am interested in is getting things done for the town I was born, live and work in and campaigning to make our area a better place. Anytime you'd like to debate that, Bob, do get back in touch. MIKE BELL - George Street, Weston
