I WRITE with reference to the piece on public parking in the paper of March 10. I live in St Georges off Walford Avenue and on returning home last night I was unable to get through The Avenue due to a car and a Wessex Water van being parked without thought. I had then to reverse and find another way home. Our street is like many others in the area, cars parked on the pavements and most of them not due to not having a parking place but lazy people who must have them parked outside their house or due to the fact they have filled their garages with rubbish. As I look down the road there are 12 cars parked on the pavement which is against the law. A van is parked on the pavement opposite garages which makes it difficult for the owners to park or reverse out of their garages, and looking into the off-road parking area I can see two cars parked and the rest of the spaces empty.I have sent e-mails and pictures to the police but they don't care, it's too much trouble. If they can be troubled to stop motorists to fine them for speeding, why not parking on the path? 12 cars one street could amount to several hundreds pounds revenue. People now have a 'don't give a damn' attitude but like a lot of law-abiding, caring people, I am thinking of adopting the same attitude and what a sad world it would become.NAME AND ADDRESS SUPPLIED - By e-mail
