I READ with interest the letters published each week in the Weston & Somerset Mercury, and I suspect like many others take no action on them. It would appear that I am not alone when I say that I am bewildered by the pavement changes made in the Boulevard. Clearly there must have been many accidents along this road, necessitating the widening of the pavements and the narrowing of the road. Although I am a motorist, generally I park outside the town and walk into it, so the increased traffic problems will not really effect me. I am however concerned about the look of the tarmac areas. Weston becomes tattier by the day, and to see new work that makes no attempt to match the existing I find very disappointing.Another example of inconsistency is the pavements in the High Street. The north end of the street has paving that is both interesting and well installed. The 'carrot' end looks like a dirty concrete slab, which is totally uninteresting and normally full of litter. Meadow Street on the other hand has been really well done. On a final note, to our wonderful councillors (tongue well and truly in cheek), try to think about improving Weston, not bodging it!MICHAEL ALLISON - Brendon Avenue, Weston
