TOGETHER with three members of my family, and many other people, I sailed on the pleasure steamer Balmoral from South Wales to Weston on August 30. We had a truly wonderful day, made even more wonderful by our visit to Carter's Steam Fair.Reading the Mercury I was disappointed to read the negative attitude of some of the residents of Beach Road. With respect to these people, they enjoy a great privilege in living in such a beautiful location. If you choose to live on the promenade of a prominent seaside resort you would expect seaside attractions to take place at times. Carter's Steam Fair was obviously an outstanding attraction, as shown by the numbers of people enjoying this wonderfully restored and immaculately presented traditional fair. The council and people of Weston should give Carter's every help and encouragement to come again and again.TERRY SYLVESTER - Romilly Park, Barry
