WHY doesn't the council just pull the plug on the scheme to redevelop the Tropicana and concentrate on building a family pool that the ever-expanding Weston and Worle area so desperately needs? We have now been told that the Tropicana is unlikely to open until autumn 2009, so until then we have to suffice with Hutton Moor which is simply not large enough to service the surrounding area.Has anybody considered the disruption that the building works will cause to the beach and promenade, therefore impacting on the holiday trade? Who is going to want to holiday on a beach that has become a building site? There is also the suggestion that there will be cinemas, hotels, and a bowling alley and yet more bars and restaurants, all resources that we already have in the area and do not need.Let's just tear the Tropicana down, remove the eyesore, restore the beach and concentrate on building a real swimming pool ... or two?LOUISE HOPPINDamson Road, Locking Castle
