IT IS time for the Weston Mercury to concentrate on highlighting and supporting the important issues in our town. The Tropicana - we don't want a multi storey hotel and car park on our beach, simply a covered swimming pool and allied fitness facilities - remember our population has doubled since Hutton Moor complex was built. Birnbeck Pier's regeneration under the new ownership of Urban Splash, all our roads repaired together with an improvement in the seafront and town centre traffic management systems - at present they are appalling, a full review was promised by the last Lib/Lab controlled council, nothing happened! Sea Defences - at last a sensible solution appears to be gaining heavy political support at Westminster - 'The Severn Barrage' this would eliminate all flood dangers for the coastline above the barrage both on the English and Welsh sides without any financial cost locally.Finally the old chestnut Junction 21 massive delays in bound and outbound from Weston and Worle, serious consideration should now be given to improvements and an additional junction in the area of the former RAF camp at Locking and Knightcott.PETE HOLDER - Via email
