Responding to your article "Close the Road," there are no doubt very real issues concerning Gordano School parents dropping children off and inconsiderate parking down this very narrow road. However problems often arise for residents from young parents dropping toddlers off at the playgroup held at the Friends Meeting House. My own driveway is frequently blocked by people carriers or 4x4s ferrying one toddler to the playgroup. In contrast to the sixth formers and their parents, who are usually apologetic if they inadvertently create an obstruction, many of these young mothers seem to feel that they have a God-given right to park where they like by virtue of having one small child. Having myself raised a family of five without ever having recourse to a motor vehicle, I find this particularly galling and perhaps indicative of the selfish attitudes prevailing today. We should therefore not heap all of the blame on Gordano school for the problems with traffic and illegal parking on St Mary's Road, as other groups share at least some of the blame.B Brown - Via e-mail
