I read your article on the proposed closure of Valley road with incredulity and anger. While we all want to see the tip re-open, this is a major route in and out of Portishead. Have these people ever observed this road? It may appear a country lane but many hundreds of vehicles use it every day, not least the vast majority of those going to and from the police HQ. The traffic congestion in Portishead High Street/Cabstand will be horrendous, the increased traffic past Highdown school will be a significant safety hazard and the traffic going along the extremely narrow road from/to Walton-in-Gordano is just a string of accidents waiting to happen. There are many things NSC could have done to limit the affects of the tip closure but this is just piling madness onto incompetence. I hope you will do everything possible to publicise how strongly people feel about this. Peter PerkinsVia e-mail
