IT WILL be very interesting to see the new exciting plans that Urban Splash have for Weston's Old Pier development. From the descriptions Jason Collard, the South West managing director, has given us, I think when we actually see these plans we will all be surprised. This indeed is a very grand master plan. When Urban Splash had the several possible plans on display at the Winter Gardens a number of these featured buildings on Prince Consort Gardens. If this is going to be the way forward, I hope North Somerset Council make sure that they really come out on top with any negotiations which take place and at the very least insist that the council retain the right of way on the seafront promenade near to and leading to the Old Pier for visitors and residents to be able to walk from the Marine Lake right up to the Old Pier, and not place us in the same situation which I thank has happened with the Henry Boot LifeStation development of the Tropicana and the loss of the Beach Lawns.
