WITH reference to former senior councillor Ken Lacey's suggestion that Weston could be better off with its own independent council.
Town council leader Andrew Horler says that not enough people put themselves forward to become a councillor. That is because we have two councils. If the Winterstoke Hundred (corresponding to the Weston Parliamentary Constituency) were to be independent of North Somerset, the problem of too few people being willing to be councillors would be solved.
If North Somerset will not agree to an amicable divorce, then we should appeal directly to the Boundaries Commission for England.
Now we are to lose our museum, which we have had since 1862. Things cannot continue as they are with Weston as the poor relation.
