WHAT an excellent idea from Mr Carter (letter Weston Mercury, August 23) commenting on the need for more informed opinion on the design of the proposed sea defences at Weston. May I suggest to the council to look at the website of H R Wallingford in Oxfordshire, the world-renowned experts in this field. They have a history of many such projects incorporating wave prediction and refraction with comprehensive feasibility studies here in the UK and abroad.If the aesthetics of the proposed sea wall and additional splash wall are not liked by many, I'm sure a better solution could be obtained by approaching these hydraulics research and consultancy specialists.M K WILMOT - Roman Road Bleadon
