ON August 7 I parked in the Sands Car Park in Weston monitored by Premier Parking Services. This is a private car park and nothing to do with North Somerset. The hourly rate is 80p. I have almost always put £1 in the meter, only because I rarely have 80p in change. You would think that would allow you one hour and 20 minutes parking, but no. I returned to my car 10 minutes late for reasons beyond my control and I had been clamped at 1.15pm and was unclamped at 1.20pm and it cost me £99.88. Since this incident I have learned of two other people who work close by and one was clamped and had to pay £150 and the other person about £85. Not only is this outrageous but what damage will this do for Weston and our visitors?Had I received a warning saying you are 10 minutes overdue and the next time you are late you will be clamped and charged £19.98 for every minute you are late back, if I could not guarantee I would be back within the allocated time I would park elsewhere.Needless to say, I no longer park in the Sands Car Park. Other car parks in the town charge £1 per hour and if you return 10 minutes after the hour then you are charged an extra £1. Parking is obviously a big money spinner! But do we want the tourists and shoppers in Weston or not? We have enough problems without this aggravation.ELAINE GOODWINBleadon Hill, Weston
