It is an insult

I HAVE read of the plans for putting together the Veteran's Day Celebrations and Weston In Bloom.

I HAVE read of the plans for putting together the Veteran's Day Celebrations and Weston In Bloom.

While I appreciate the hard work and talent into getting displays read for Weston in Bloom it is an insult to put servicemen in the same category as a flower festival.

With all those brave people past and present fighting in conflicts round the world it cheapens the sacrifices they made and will continue to make.

They deserve their own festival. Harry Patch would have been disgusted.

We especially thank Bill Derek and his friends for the sacrifices they have made and loss of sight they endured because of the battles they took part in.

Please do not treat the veteran's like a display of flowers - they have had enough flowers at sad funeral services. It cheapens the whole of the sacrifices they have made.
