IN RESPONSE to your recent article regarding St Mary's Church, Hutton, we wish to point out that although our rector, Bernard Stevenson, will be leaving Hutton within the next year the church will continue to be used on a full-time basis. The Reverends Richard and Anne Lee have been appointed to the parish of Locking from January, 2007. They will then become joint incumbents of Locking and Hutton at some future date.Your article mentioned the issue of parking in Hutton and the possibility of some of the land at St Mary's becoming a car park.Obviously this cannot happen because the churchyard is consecrated ground and a cemetery. However the issue of more parking facilities may be addressed on land adjacent to the rectory at some time in the future when the rectory becomes vacant.MARGARET BAILEY AND JANE BARRYOn behalf of St Mary's Parochial Church Council
