This busy, well organised site has provided Portishead, Clevedon and surrounding area with a much needed facility for recycling most, no all of our household rubbish. Many are incensed by its closure.I for one am not in the least surprised that now we have a problem in the area with fly tipping.Apparently the peregrine falcons relocated three weeks after nesting to the quarry opposite after crows dismantled their nest. This is a local council kicking its heals hoping the problem will go away. Well it won'tThe Daily Telegraph on July 26 stated 'Taxes to rise unless more rubbish is recycled.' The council has taken away a facility whereby we as rate payers will have to pay more for their inadequacies. There could be a sting in the tail. Councils could face substantial Government fines if they fail to reduce the volume of waste sufficiently to comply with EU law. Gillian Regan - Portishead
