WHY does it take so many visits to repair a pothole in our roads? First, somebody drives around with yellow paint to mark out the extent of the repair. Second, somebody else comes to make a temporary repair to the worst and deepest part of the hole. Third, a crew arrives to do the repair properly and probably the first person then goes back to check it.Why not just send the third crew around the town with a pile of tarmac, let them use their common sense, decide what needs doing and do the job in one visit? If this practice is duplicated in other departments, no wonder there are so many council employees and our council tax is so high!MARTIN COLE - Via e-mail
