REGARDING your article about the flood defence plan being postponed indefinitely, surely it is now imperative to put a halt to all the high density housing springing up in 'ghettos' around the low-lying areas of Weston?Much of this land is in predicted high flood risk areas as designated by the Environment Agency. These risks will be greatly exacerbated by concreting over huge areas of land which previously formed natural drainage. Indeed, a glance at the spot heights on the Ordnance Survey maps show that there are large areas below high spring tide levels.Buyers of houses on these sites are expected to have difficulty obtaining insurance. Will the developers inform them of the risks? Or, will the burden of repair costs fall on local tax payers? Historically, developers in Weston have not even kept pre-building promises - just taken their vast profits and ran!M A FORROW - Locking
