A CORNER post office! That is what the British public has, it is what they want, and it is what they should be allowed to keep. Even the word 'allowed' is enough to make me angry. Why should the European Union have the power to 'allow' or 'disallow' us to maintain our own post offices? The trouble is the post offices are no longer our own. Our Government has given them away.In many villages there are the pub and the post office, and to close down the post office rips half the heart out of the village. Much of the problem is caused by the European Union directive (97/67/EC), and that the EU will not 'allow' the more profitable post office business to subsidise the less profitable side, so about 2,500 post offices are to be closed. Why, oh why, are we 'allowing' this to be done? Let us get out of the European Union as soon as we possibly can!MIRIAM BROWNJocelin Drive, Worle
