IN RESPONSE to letters from Brian Austin and Mr Allwood, the owners of the pier have not been pleading for money. The point of the collection bins are as printed in the Weston & Somerset Mercury (August 21) to make a replica model of the pier. Any money left over is being donated to charity. They are not forcing us to donate they are simply saying if you want to give you can. I think it is the perfect way to remember such a wonderful building and it is great that they are asking us to be involved in this.I am lucky to have had the pleasure of speaking to Kerry Michael at length. They are not here to make money out of this, they just want to rebuild making it better than before. I for one am proud to support them.MRS J BUTLER - Station Road, Weston
