I AM surprised to see the opposition to a fortnightly refuse collection. I live in Mendip, which has a good record on recycling, and I have not seen any opposition to our fortnightly collections. We have wheelie bins for rubbish which is collected once a fortnight. Food waste, cans, glasses, textiles and paper are collected every week. There is a separate garden waste bin collection for an extra charge.I live in one of a terrace of eight cottages with little space for the bins so we gave five back and find three bins per fortnight are enough. I have several compost bins which take some paper and cardboard, as well as garden waste and uncooked food waste.SUSAN BATES - West Bank, Wookey Hole
