In the article 'Get Your Sk8s on' in the North Somerset Times of October 24, the skate park project is quoted as saying 'with a poll of residents putting the Lake Grounds forward as the preferred site'. This is not true, by a large majority, 375 respondents out of a total of 800 residents gave the Parish Wharf as the preferred location. At the request of the project group, North Somerset Council officers gave their opinions, not rulings, on the suitability of the Parish Wharf and other possible sites, for a skate park.Officers advised that the Parish Wharf site would not be suitable because of the potential of noise nuisance to adjacent residents. As for the Bristol Road playing fields, this site is in the control of the town council and North Somerset officers offered no opinion on the suitability of this site. The Lake Grounds were also discussed at a meeting between officers and members of the project group. At this meeting, officers expressed concern about the suitability of this park as a location for a skate park. The skate park group appears to be selective with the facts.Catherine Stockham - Woodhill Road, Portishead
