I FIND the comments of Cllr Elfan Ap Rees high handed and offensive when he called motorists in Portishead 'stupid'.To start with, there is nobody working in Clapton Lane on the bridge repairs after 6pm and the road is safe enough to use.God forbid we should get the road workers to work at night or weekends on vital road networks, like the rest of Europe.North Somerset Council, by granting planning permission for thousands of new homes in Portishead without any regard for a proper road or rail network, was 'stupid' Mr Ap Rees.We have to get to work, and with draconian taxes on fuel, you can't blame a few people using Clapton Lane if the workmen are not there.Go on North Somerset Council, spend some of the millions you are now taking in council taxes from all the extra houses in Portishead and give us a proper road and rail network.Or perhaps pay the workmen overtime and get the job done sooner.Or perhaps just stop calling us 'stupid'. We pay your 'stupid' wages after all!ERIC ARNOLD - Nightingale Rise, Portishead
