WHILST walking the splendid works already completed on the Promenade between Anchor Head and The Grand Pier, I was delighted to see the excellent display recording the History of the Pier, albeit with one surprising exception which saddened me - the minimal mention of the Brenner family - owners throughout the majority of post war years.

Throughout these years, three generations of this family have been great benefactors to the town - impressive annual fireworks, successive Red Arrow displays attracting thousands, maintaining and markedly improving the pier both inside and out as a familiar attraction at the end of Regent Street often much appreciated when the heavens opened - providing so many youngsters with supervised employment during the summer school holidays and so much more.

Westonians owe a great debt of gratitude to the Brenner family and I hope the sponsors of the otherwise excellent Historical Display will enlarge on the single rectangular panel referring to the Brenner's - which is surely disproportionate to this family's input into the town.
