I AM writing to you about the rubbish in my street, Hopkins Street, Weston. About 18 months ago I complained to the council about people dumping their rubbish in the street five days before the collection day. The council looked into it and sent letters to people in the street but now the issue has got worse. The refuse is collected on Monday and by Wednesday black bags begin lining the pavements and obstructing the gateway to the car park of the property where I live. It is disgusting. Cats open the bags and scatter the rubbish across the road. It is unhygienic, looks a mess and makes me ashamed to say I live there. I have contacted the council again but when are people going to start taking responsibility for the street they live in and make it a nice environment? It's deplorable that people disrespect the council rules of putting rubbish out for collection the night before or on the day. People should be ashamed of the mess they create.PATRICIA BROWN - Hopkins Street, Weston
