THIS IS a letter to warn all your readers about parking in the Pizza Hut car park, off Winterstoke Road.
On July 1 my husband purchased a meal from the neighbouring McDonald's and decided to eat it in his car.
As the McDonald's car park was full, he parked at the end of the Pizza Hut car park, which was virtually empty. He noticed a sign that said not to park there if not eating in the Pizza Hut restaurant but thought 'well, if someone comes and asks me to move my car, I will' and therefore gave no more thought to the matter.
We have now received a parking ticket in the post courtesy of Parking Eye, explaining that, as he was parked there longer than the 10 minutes allowed, in excess of eight minutes, that he would be charged 80! Yes 80, but if he paid within 14 days it would be reduced to 50.
Yes, he was wrong to park there for in excess of eight minutes and there was a sign warning him of this, but 50, plus a 2.50 admin charge for paying over the phone?
In this current climate of hard times and the credit crunch, no doubt these companies are making a fortune, so I wanted all the Mercury's readers to be aware of what is happening.
Quite frankly, if Pizza Hut wishes to employ the services of Parking Eye, we will not be visiting its premises again for any future meals and, as a family of six, I am sure it will miss our money.
