I UNDERSTAND that North Somerset Council is considering closing North Somerset Museum in Weston and I have to say that to close it would be insane. My children asked me to take them to a museum during the summer holidays and I grudgingly agreed, expecting minutes of fun compared with game parks, etc. Not only did we have a thoroughly enjoyable time, they insisted on going back day after day. There is so much to amuse the kids and with an annual pass at £9 for the family it is such good value that if they asked me to pay a retrospective price increase I would happily pay. The place is a little gem for weary parents where the kids are easily supervised with a wonderful central coffee shop.I suggest families should consider visiting the museum, especially during school holidays when they have marvellous activities. The visitors' book is full of positive comments so it's not just me that thinks the museum is an undiscovered gem for families. In view of the recent mourning for the loss of the Grand Pier and its cheap machines that eat funds, and expensive snacks, I suggest that to close the museum would be an act of insanity.PAUL ARNOLD - Purn Way, Bleadon
