IT WAS with considerable bewilderment that I read that £340,000 was to be awarded to care homes in the area in order to improve the quality of care. The care and conditions of these private homes should be of the highest order anyway without the need for public monies to be given on top of their profits. In my experience of two private care homes in Weston, the standard of cleanliness and quality of personal care fell well below what is should be anyway. I have been appalled at some of the things I have seen and heard from staff and residents.Perhaps more rigorous inspections might improve standards without the need for additional money.NAME AND ADDRESS SUPPLIED
