IT WAS very interesting to gain knowledge of the recent developments regarding the re-opening of the Portishead to Bristol railway line, which has been very much debated during the last two decades, and that North Somerset Council has acquired the remaining three miles of track. Now there is a good chance of the railway link being revived to a passenger service. When a very young infant I can recall sighting a steam engine and carriages travelling to Portishead through the Gordano Valley. This was around 1943, so it appears that the Weston line was still operating to Clevedon during the early 1940s. This came to mind, when reading that the line may be extended on further through the Gordano Valley to Clevedon, with this future possibility it would create faster access to all three towns.
