REF your article 'Mum's diary of hell'. I am writing in my capacity as chairman of two organisations which work for, and with, survivors and victims of domestic abuse in North Somerset.Standing Together raises funds and awareness for victims who suffer abuse, but have no recourse to public funds, so are left in crisis, homeless and in danger.Mankind Initiative raises funds (charitable status) and supports and raises awareness, for male victims who suffer domestic abuse. One in five victims of domestic abuse are male, and we have many victims out there who are not known because of the stigma, of 'being a man' and dealing with the issues. We are lucky to have a domestic abuse co-ordinator in North Somerset Council and recently have been able to get a specialist domestic violence court. However we are still under the national average for reporting of incidents, so if your article helps just one person (male or female) not to suffer in silence it will have achieved victory. Many thanks, and perhaps I could pre-sell a fund-raising event for Standing Together, on November 15, 2008, at the Royal Hotel, Weston - 'Maybe Strictly Come Dancing - Almost'. Come along, buy a ticket for dinner and even take part. There will be tutor lessons available the month before so come on all the business folk in Weston - get a team going and have a fun evening.Contact details via Roz 01934 416915.ROZ WILLIS - Ashbury Drive, Weston
