I WRITE in response to the article last week (April 28) highlighting a mother's fury over the changing school bus timetable to Westhaven. Does Mrs Griffiths really expect to hold the council 'to ransom' by keeping her son off school until they accommodate one child's needs? A council spokesman has already explained that the re-organisation of routes benefits the majority of students.Mr and Mrs Griffiths are convinced that the changes will harm Karl's education and welfare and so have pledged to keep him at home until the council changes the route. However, it seems that the only people harming their son's education and welfare are the very couple themselves by adopting such a ridiculous stance. The journey in question is two miles and takes 10 minutes. Mrs Griffiths states herself: "A journey of 10 minutes is fine but a journey of one hour each way is not". One therefore wonders why it is not possible to take the child to school themselves? Hundreds of parents cross counties by taking their children to school, some on foot and some in personal transport, as parents do so for the "education and welfare" of their children.MRS WATTS - Address Supplied
