THE Friends of the Old Pier Society read with interest the thoughts of Miss Jackson about raising funds for the old pier, in particular the idea of contributions towards buying planks. However the current owner in 1998 started a 'Sponsor a Plank' fund which then became a 'Sponsor a Plague Fund'. They managed this until 2004 when they transferred the responsibility to us.
