I HAVE absolutely no doubt that MP John Penrose's expenses will be immaculate and I for one have no interest in seeing them. However, John's refusal to respond to public and media calls for members of the House of Commons to publish detailed breakdown of expenses raises other more relevant concerns. As it is absolutely clear that other members of the House of Commons do have their noses in the trough, a sitting on the fence attitude can be interpreted as putting the interest of the political class before the interests of the public.Modern politics clearly does not allow for this and John's attitude is of a very real concern for those of us who have suffered from maladministration and obfuscation from ministers and civil servants. Our target is to get answers and justice, not to revel in the fact our MP has Select Committee roles.PAUL ARNOLD - Purn Way, Bleadon
