I HAVE had a property in Weston for at least 25 years and in all that time all I remember is the constant squabbling and back biting about the Tropicana, Knightstone Island and Birnbeck Pier. When are Westonian's going to grow up and realise that nothing is perfect, and that over all the years, nothing until now has happened with these three eyesores?Knightstone Island is now settled and although it doesn't provide any or all of people's expectations, it is no longer an eyesore. One problem dealt with. Henry Boot, after years of the council's failure, has actually presented a plan for approval. It has found a tenant to operate the bowling alleys and is now prepared to build something there instead of the derelict monstrosity of the Tropicana. How many more years do the fighting rear guard want to get their ideal? Let's get on with it. Finally, Birnbeck Pier is in the hands of a well-respected firm of architect and developers, Urban Splash. Look them up on the internet. They specialise in restoration of old structures to superb standards. Let's all get round and support Redrow, Boot and Urban Splash to make Weston better.COLIN GREEN - Lark Road, Worle
