As a resident of Portishead since 1947 and one of the many protesters about the present awful traffic lights in Portishead, may I suggest that all that is required to sort out this problem is a large roundabout at the bottom of Cabstand. Please do not waste any more money trying to adjust the lights as this will not make any appreciable difference to the present chaos, or to make alterations to Slade Road as the problems there will automatically be resolved when the lights are removed. It is infuriating to be held up by lights when no traffic is moving at all and stopping traffic at red lights only makes for congestion which would not have existed but for the lights. The lights at the Co-op car park entrance are also wholly unnecessary for most of the day as traffic is only light and could easily be dealt with by a roundabout, and even at rush hour the traffic is mostly moving either out of or into Portishead depending on the time of day and this also could be handled by a roundabout. I hope very much that the council will take notice of the wishes of a majority of Portishead residents, after all that is what they are there for.Pam Aldren - Via email
