HOW sad it is to see the felling of healthy trees along side our roads with no intention of replacing them.
HOW sad it is to see the felling of healthy trees along side our roads with no intention of replacing them.
These were planted by previous local councils to enhance the beauty of Weston and now it seems councillors have decided trees are no longer required and cost too much to maintain, like public toilets.
Private property owners have to get council planning permission to reduce or cut down trees, but it seems this is not required by councils, especially if health and safety reasons can be made to apply.
Unless there is a public outcry, I expect many more trees will be cut down, which is a great pity as most of us know trees soften the look of buildings, reduce pollution, encourage bird life, and enhance the value of property.
