WITH reference to the article on Banwell traffic in last week's Weston Mercury, we moved to Winscombe in 1998 and my wife, who has since died, gave up driving within a couple of weeks because she was not happy driving through Banwell. That's eight years ago.At the time all sorts of enquiries and discussions were in progress as to what to do. Inevitably, nothing was done but the discussions and arguments have persisted until now. Surprise, surprise, with the redevelopment of the drains in Banwell the same old chestnut has reared its ugly head.Instead of the proposed further investigations, if someone digs in the archives and reads all that has gone before, this will save another ballot or door-to-door or street enquiry, and a great deal of time and taxpayers' money. Who are the council afraid of upsetting?J W LYON - Via e-mail
