GOOD heavens, I just spotted the headline on the front of the Weston Mercury 'Severn Barrage scheme moves a step further', it says. This is because the Severn Barrage Committee had submitted its report to the Environmental Secretary recommending a study of the potential. Apparently the study will take four years and cost £4 million, whereas the scheme would take nine years to build and cost £5.6 billion whilst providing six per cent of the country's energy.
