WELL done you, for putting the record straight with regard to the Conservatives and the Barcode cafe (Opinion, March 23).The plight of Roz Willis' mother points to the need for local government to be allowed to raise and spend more local taxation, with a smaller proportion of tax going to central government. These tie in with the call by Cllrs Kraft and Tucker for a shift of power and responsibility from North Somerset to Weston Town Council. It must be wrong that councillors from other parts of North Somerset make decisions which affect the lives of the residents of Weston. Finally, where has Sue Creasey been? Labour and Lib Dems between them have delivered the best results ever. The bad things happened when the Lib Dems were allied to the Conservatives eg Tropicana, Knightstone and Silica. As for the Crockford-Hawley tower block - that is still only a figment of Mr Crockford-Hawley's imagination, and he could be out of office following the May elections.ROBERT CRAIG - Priory Road, Weston
