Point of Clarification: There is not a third third lane being proposed on the A369 as widely reported in a number of press articles. The current proposal ONLY includes a bell-mouthing to three lanes as you reach the roundabout. This will allow about six/eight cars to filter into this area. To make matters worse, the current proposal allows for a High Occupancy and Bus Lane which will further extend the queuing traffic back towards Portishead. With Portishead's prime building contractor Persimmon, ticketing increased levels of profits - Adrian Evans, managing director for the regional house builder, revealed net pre-tax profits of £495.4 million in 2005, compared to £468 million in 2004 - the residents of Portishead should expect better. I would like to talk to the North Somerset officials responsible for the 106 related agreement - to enquire why the residents of Portishead are being short changed. We have seen the mess that has been made of the Cabststand, it's time the councillors and residents demand radical improvements to this scheme - rather then saying traffic is a common problem experienced everywhere, as was said by a leading planning councillor in a recent town council meeting. Let's make sure we get what we deserve, rather than a plaster over our already inadequate road system Cllr Alan McMurray- Portishead South and North Weston.
