I WRITE with regard to the comment (Mercury, page 18, May 11) that North Somerset Highways Authority will cut the tree back so that the sign is visible. Three quarters of the tree would have to be removed to make the sign totally visible. Has anybody thought about re-siting the post and sign in front of the tree so that the tree is not damaged in any way?I bet politicians and IT experts were involved in this project. That combination is a guarantee for disaster and waste of taxpayers' money.PETER JONES - Hewish
