SINCE Councillor Nigel Ashton became leader of North Somerset Council a year ago, it has gone on a spending spree which will seriously increase council tax.In March, councillors voted for up to a 40 per cent increase in income and high increases in their allowances. Also in future they will be getting more money in their pension fund, which we will pay for, and they insisted that the amounts involved are kept a secret, so what are they hiding from us?Councillors have also been treated to a gourmet night in Weston, which will no doubt be repeated.Will Cllr Ashton please tell us why he has agreed to all these things?
