I WAS intrigued by page seven of last week's Mercury featuring a colour coded car park on the Beach Lawns under the heading of 'Art'.

Anyone interested in colour coded parking should take a trip to Portbury! It works better if you look down from above of course, a helicopter perhaps, but it doesn't feel like 'art' to me. It would create the required precedents to allow the council to put a proper car park there but I don't suppose it entered their heads for a moment.
As 2010 is the bicentenary of 'The Hotel' (Royal Hotel) and thereby the bicentenary of Weston Tourism, as such I'd been trying to persuade the powers that be to celebrate that fact. Hard work that, but in a town full of creative people why does the council always bring in outsiders?
While I'm at it, why, after 21 years, is Weston Arts Festival always scheduled for when the tourists have gone home?
Ah well, ever-forward.
