On Sunday March 5, one of our ponies - Jessie James - became entangled in some fencing. He bolted out of his field and because the fencing was still attached to him he panicked and galloped, terrified, along Youngwood Lane. At some point he collided with another horse in the lane and luckily for Jessie at this point the fencing became dislodged. He continued his flight out of the lane towards the Chelvey turning. We followed as quickly as we could by car, and when we saw him we turned our car across the lane to avoid cars following him and panicking him even more. Thankfully for us people in a car coming from the other direction saw what was happening and pulled their car across to block his way in that direction.May we, through your newspaper, express our very, very grateful thanks to all the many people who helped us get this very traumatised pony back to his home. Thank you to Lisa Coward and her friend Sue, whose horse was in collision with Jessie, to the lads on the tractor who supplied us with a length of rope, to the people who blocked the road - either in or out of their cars - and to the very many patient people in their cars who waited and asked if the pony was alright.Once more a big thank you to all of those who helped. Jessie is very shaken but on the mend.Chris Stevens, Tracie and Abi Clarke, Jill Pope and all at Youngwood Green Stables
